Der Song Comme d'Habitude wurde vom französischen Sänger Claude François, kurz nach-dem François und die Sängerin France Gall auseinander gegangen waren. Im 1967 bearteitete David Whitaker dieses Lied und es wurde zum größten Erfolg von Claude François. Dank der englischen Faßung von Paul Anka wurde My Way weltüber bekannt und die Versionen von Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley und die Sex Pistols machten den Song noch erfolgreicher.
