Sheet music by Charles de Lusse

Charles de Lusse, was a French flutist and composer.

It is not known whether de Lusse was related to a Parisian family of woodwind instrument makers of the same name. In 1743 de Lusse’s first vocal composition appeared in print, followed by his first flute compositions in 1751. In 1758 he became a member of the orchestra of the Paris Opéra-Comique and in the following year his comic opera L’amant statue was premiered. De Lusse, who was also active as a flute teacher and wrote a flute school (L’art de la flûte traversière), contributed in 1769 the explanatory article Musique for the illustrated volume of the encyclopaedia by Diderot and d’Alembert. After 1774 it is no longer mentioned.

The compositions of de Lusse - among others flute sonatas as well as songs and romances - are partly influenced by the Mannheim school.
