Dorothee Eberhardt, born 1952 in Memmingen, Bavaria, received accordion and piano lessons already as a child, and later took up saxophone, clarinet and finally the violin. After high school she pursued oriental studies, philosophy and Greek at Würzburg and Tübingen Universities, graduating in 1979 with a Ph.D. Inspired by the English saxophonist Barbara Thompson she moved to London in 1980 where she studied both at Trinity College of Music, London, gaining a Licentiate (LTCL) in clarinet (1986) and at Goldsmiths College, University of London, graduating with a B.Mus in composition and musicology (1987). After her studies she worked in London as a clarinet teacher and composer. Dorothee Eberhardt works are being played and commissioned by renowned musicians and institutions, amongst them the Munich Chamber Orchestra, I Solisti Veneti, the Munich Flute Trio, Trio Contrastes from Salamanca, the TenHagen String Quartett, the Satori Ensemble, the Hungarian clarinettist Zoltán Kovács and ABRSM Publishing, London.
