The Norwegian Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) is one of the most important composers of the Romantic Period, with works such as the Hall of the Mountain King from his Peer Gynt suites. Browse our sheet music and scores, and explore all his wonderful works today.
Edvard Grieg grew up in Bergen, he studied in Leipzig, and he also lived in Denmark. He was a great advocate for Norwegian music, and championed his own music, and music from his homeland in concert, both as a pianist and conductor.
Grieg let the folk music of Norway flow into his compositions, and thus built a monument in classical music, which stands tall to this day. Among his wealth of romantic Norwegian music, his Morning Mood and melodies and songs like Solveygs Song and I Love Thee epitomise the sound of Norway, and remain firm favourites for classical music lovers all over the world.
