Alton Glenn Miller (b. 1904) was an American trombonist, arranger and composer. He was the number one best-selling recording artist from 1939 to 1942, leading one of the world’s most famous big bands, and becoming a pioneer of swing. His greatest hits include "In the Mood", "Moonlight Serenade", "Pennsylvania 6-5000", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "A String of Pearls", "American Patrol", "Tuxedo Junction", "Elmer’s Tune", and "Little Brown Jug". There is an excellent biopic film made about him called "The Glenn Miller Story". He disappeared on December 15th 1944.
