The Austrian Otto M. Schwarz (b.1967) is best known as a film composer. He writes commercials, film music and theme tunes for major German language television stations such as ARD, ZDF and ORF. He has been writing symphonic works since 1995, and his “Nostradamus”, “Around the World in 80 Days”, “Dragon Fight” and “Man in the Ice” have been performed all over the world. Otto M. Schwarz’s talent became apparent early on. At the age of 11, he was the youngest student in the Vienna Music Conservatoire’s junior department, studying trumpet and composition. His early success came through Pop Music. Three of his first compositions were released as singles, and featured in the Austrian Ö3 charts.
In 1989 he received the prize for best composition at the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest for the song “Der Weg zur Freiheit”. He wrote music for well-known television series such as Alpenklinik, Lilly Schönauer, Die Landärztin and SOKO Kitzbühel, and he also made a name for himself in the international film scene.
