“The reactions music evokes are not feelings, but they are the images, memories of feelings.” Paul Hindemith (1895-1963)
Objective, without romantic pathos, of great craftsmanship, and always seasoned with a good pinch of humour… browse our sheet music and scores, and discover all the joys and nuances of Paul Hindemith’s music with Stretta today.
Between 1935 & 1955, Hindemith, as an incredibly versatile and talented musician, who mastered almost all solo instruments, composed many sonatas with piano accompaniment for virtually all instruments.
Hindemith’s unique humour and his distant admiration of the romantic style are particularly evident in one work in particular, Hindemith’s Overture to the Flying Dutchman as Sight-Read by a Bad Spa Orchestra at 7 in the Morning by the Well.
