The Austrian soprano Silvia Steiner-Span was born in Innsbruck. After her first piano studies at the Conservatory of Tyrol, she studied singing at the Mozarteum University and at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, where she received her artistic diploma with distinction. She received important impulses in master classes with artists such as Jessica Cash, Edith Mathis, Kurt Widmer, Brigitte Fassbaender, Margarita Lilova and through many years of coaching by Dale Fundling. She is a frequent participant in music theatre productions in Germany and Austria and gives recitals and arias. One focus is on sacred music. She has sung all masses by W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn and F. Schubert, among others, as well as all other church music works by W. A. Mozart. She sang the solo parts of the great works of the oratorio literature such as the Passions of Bach, Handel’s "Messiah", Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C minor, Haydn’s "Creation", Mendelssohn’s 2nd Symphony ("Lobgesang") in Salzburg (Great Hall of the Mozarteum), Munich, Naples (Auditorio della RAI) and Zurich.
