Keystone tells the story of the Odeon of Vriezenveen, a city in the Netherlands. "Odeon" is the name given to ancient Greek and Roman buildings that were used for activities such as singing, music and poetry. This name was chosen in 1998 by several members of the "Vriezenveense Harmonie" for the cultural center they had planned. The piece begins slowly in the bass instruments, but then speeds up in a contrapuntal passage in which the main motif changes from one instrumental group to another. After a slower section, the music speeds up again and leads to a majestic chorale symbolizing the magnificent Odeon. This composition was orchestrated for brass band and serves as a compulsory piece for the first division of the 2023 National Brass Band Championship in France.
