Description

Das "Stabat Mater" ist in seinem Ursprung ein mittelalterliches Gedicht, das die Gottesmutter vor ihrem gekreuzigten Sohn singt. Deshalb wird das "Stabat Mater" noch heute am Fest der Sieben Schmerzen Mariä (15.9.) gebetet oder gesungen. Das Stabat Mater Dvoráks wurde 1880 in Prag uraufgeführt und ist in seiner Entstehung eng mit seinem persönlichen Schicksal verknüpft. Innerhalb kurzer Zeit verstarben drei seiner Kinder.
