Antonín Dvorák wrote Legend No. 4, op. 59 in 1880, first for piano and later orchestrated it. The cycle of ten smaller compositions with extra-musical program from the realm of myths, legends and legends is seen as a lyrical counterpart to the Slavic Dances. The 4th legend Molto maestoso is introduced with an expressive horn motif, which Dvorák then processed into an impressive ballad composition. Pavel Stanék's sensitive arrangement does justice to the original work and is an enrichment for every concert programme.
