Separate edition for practical use: Sonata in C major Hob. XVI:48 opens the series of Haydn's late 'classical' piano sonatas which were to leave their marks even in Beethoven's works. The first movement testifies to a highly developed cantabile art of variation, while the second radiates Haydn's typical humour.
