The infamous 'Farewell' Symphony. Haydn's orchestra had been resident at the Esterhazy's Summer Rural Estate for longer than planned, so Haydn wrote this symphony in solidarity with his musicians, where in the final movement, each player stands up one by one, blows out a candle, and leaves the stage. At the end, all that can be heard is the soft sounds of two muted violins (originally played by Haydn himself and the leader).
