Bossa Nova
Solo for 2 Flugelhorns
RUNDELs Pops for Brass (Sextett) 34
As is well known, it is easier to go through life with a partner than alone, and if you are solo, you usually want a second “soloist” at your side. Seen in this way, Lars Ericsen fulfills a very basic need by presenting a solo piece for two flugelhorns with “Easy Wings”. Over a soft, happy bossa nova rhythm, the soloists seem to fly carefree, truly with light wings. No wonder when there are two of you! (The "wings" are of course also a subtle allusion to the instrument "Flugel"-horn.)
"Easy Wings" offers sophisticated harmonics typical of bossa nova. The soft ensemble sound, however, prevents this from ever being "dissonant". In the past, we often encountered music of this type and color in department stores and light, entertaining feature films – not because it is essentially “commercial” in nature, but because it spreads a good mood in an unobtrusive way.
To avoid a possible misunderstanding: There is definitely no airline with the name "Easy Wings" yet, only companies that have one of these two words in their name. With "Easy Wings" you fly musically exclusively at RUNDEL!
