This contemporary arrangement by Franz Heinrich Ehrenfried (1747-1828) is very skilful and reproduces the complete opera. This version for flute quartet (first published by Schott) was widely used in the 19th century.
With the original libretto, the opera can be performed in a chamber setting or parts of it in concert. A performance with narrator(s) is also effective: In the CD recording by the quartet L'Arcadia for ORF Vienna (CD 3120), the arias are impressively spoken by the actor Daniel Fueter.
