after Robert Schumann's "Träumerei"
"While composing Dreaming I was trying to put together an immutable beautiful theme and softly and intelligently jazz-altered harmonies. In other words, I was trying (as I always do in my music and pedagogy) to combine classical and jazz elements as naturally as possible. In addition, I did not want to violate the original. The piece is dedicated to my great piano teacher – Pavel Messner’s memory who was a pupil of the great Emil Gilels. Messner’s grandfather was the famous French composer George Catoire. I hope the piece will be an attractive and tender encore for both the performers and the audience." Alexander Rosenblatt
