- Adagio
- Allegro non tanto
Editorially, there were many decisions to be taken, as Dragonetti's manuscript parts have slightly different dynamic markings from Rossini's hastily written score. The score at one point fades out entirely, as Rossini opted for repeat marks to save himself time. Bowings and phrasings in the printed copy are mostly original, although here and there I made small changes where there were obvious inconsistencies.
Although there are places in the final movement where the music builds up to a written firmata, there is no evidence that cadenzas were ever part of the original concept. On the contrary, the insertion of additional material at these points is not only unnecessary, as it detracts from the humour of the piece, but it is probably also stylistically inappropriate.
