für Violoncello und Klavier op. 6
In 1881 Richard Strauss began composing the 'Sonata for cello and piano' Op. 6. The first movement was premièred in 1882. In 1882/1883 he completely revised the sonata: He made profound changes in the 1st movement and replaced the 2nd and 3rd movements entirely. In this final version, the sonata now appears according to the text of the Critical Edition (Richard Strauss Werke).
