Where did the Styrian Harmonica get its name?

Based on its name, one might think the instrument originated in the Austrian state of “Styria”, but no, it was simply called “Styrian” by the Viennese as a synonym for rural music.

Up until a few years ago, the Styrian Harmonica was still a rather difficult instrument to learn, because the keys do not follow a fixed order, but today there are all sorts of great Styrian Harmonica Tuition books and guides that make learning this instrument easy, with fingerings from the ground up!
