"I Shall Love But Thee" is an occasional work in the true sense, because the composer originally wrote it on the occasion of his youngest son's wedding. The texts were written by William Shakespeare and inspired Jan Van der Roost to compose profound and appealing music in the style of the great masters. Stylistically it recalls Henry Purcell (in the first part) and Georg Friedrich Händel (in the second part), even if no literary quotations were used. The rare combination of soprano and wind orchestra makes this piece a unique addition to the repertoire!
