Festival Overture

This overture by the Dutch composer Hans van der Heide was commissioned especially for competitions and scoring games. In addition, the FESTIVAL OVERTURE was to convey fun and joy in making music. The piece contains fanfare-like and rhythmically contrasting parts as well as very beautiful melodic passages.

Hans van der Heide was born on 22 December 1958 in Den Helder (Netherlands). He studied trumpet at the "Sweelinck Musikhochschule" in Amsterdam and was appointed solo trumpet player with the "Königliche Militärkapelle" (KMK) in The Hague immediately after completing his studies. There he was also active for a long time as court arranger. Hans van der Heide received another diploma as "Kapellmeister" from the "Königliche Musikhochschule" in The Hague. Further studies with Marcel Peeters led him to Belgium. In addition to arranging, Hans van der Heide is now increasingly dedicated to composing.
