Ouvertüre zur komischen Operette
Inspired by the operetta successes of Jacques Offenbach in Vienna, Franz von Suppé (1819-1895) began composing his first stage works from 1860 onward. "Isabella," his comedic opera in one act from 1869, had its premiere in Vienna. The overture features both Spanish and Viennese melodies. Although Suppé's music doesn't always exhibit a typical Viennese sound, he secured a place in concert halls with his overtures such as "Poet and Peasant" or "Light Cavalry.“
