Celebration Overture

With this brilliant overture, the renowned Dutch composer Kees Vlak wishes to bid farewell to the second millennium and at the same time welcome the third.

The introduction is followed by a quick section with melodies in the spirit of the New World. The delicate middle section is intended as a greeting for the new era, the new millennium, and is therefore held like a lullaby. The third section in the appendix and statement clearly stands out from this: the resumption of the main theme is prepared over an ostinato rhythm. The composer wants to give musical expression to the liberation of peoples from multi-layered dependencies and the progress of mankind itself. The main theme and the rhythmic basis together then lead the overture to a festive finale.
